R Means??

The “R” in R-Value stands for resistance to heat flow, which means the higher the R-value the higher the insulating value.

When dealing with insulation R-value is typically expressed in two ways:

1. Total R-Value

Which means the total number used to measure in the insulation value of a particular product like batts, boards etc.

2. R-Value Per Inch

Insulation is manufactured from different materials so when a Manufacturer rates their product per inch. All you need to do is Multiply that products one inch R-Value by how many inches of insulation you are getting.
