Cellulose insulation is similar to blown-in fiberglass. But is made of recyclable materials instead. Pieces of cardboard, wood, and other materials are broken down. And then treated with different chemicals to make them flame-proof and ready to be used in your home. 

Because of how fine the materials are, this installation process can be a big mess. It's definitely not something you should try to do on your own.
